Capital Campaign
Ventana Fund has raised $3.2 million to date and is working to secure additional contributions from corporations and foundations.
In 2014, the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA) kicked off Ventana Fund’s capital campaign with a $3.2 million grant, virtually all of which is being used to make loans. In March 2015, Ventana Fund was certified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), which qualifies us to receive grants and below-market rate loans from the CDFI Fund.
As a 501(c)(3) organization, Ventana Fund is launching the second phase of its capital campaign to raise additional funds from corporations and foundations. This will help us achieve our affordable housing lending and production goals and to increase the loans and loan amounts made by Ventana Fund while maintaining below-market rates and flexible terms.
Capital campaign contributions are committed to direct lending for affordable housing projects.
Ventana Fund’s operational costs are very low because of the dedication of our volunteer Board of Directors, all of whom are housing professionals, and our contractual relationship with MFA to whom we outsource our loan underwriting and processing work. Contributions made to Ventana Fund’s capital campaign will be restricted to direct lending for affordable housing projects. Ventana Fund will continue to cover its low operating expenses through its loan interest and origination fees.
